JANUARY

12th   After eighteen years service, DC-3 G-AHCT flew into Manchester for the very last time and ultimately to its final resting place. It survived several years, slowly being dismantled and was then used by the Airport Fire Service. It was finally consumed in a large fire in November 1975.

MARCH

A new Beech 65, G-AZOH, was delivered to Fairey Surveys during the month. It arrived at the hangar for conversion to perform survey work, departing to White Waltham on 09 September.

APRIL

Another Beech 65, G-AZFS, was delivered, this aircraft was also converted for survey work.

22nd   Fairey Dove G-AKSS, departed 23rd. (f/t Leeds)

SEPTEMBER

6th     Fairey Dove G-AKSS arrived for maintenance, departed 9th October. (f/t White Waltham)

12th   Islander G-BAKZ, departed 27th March on delivery to Helicopter Hire. (f/t Bembridge)

FEBRUARY

15th   Islander G-BAJS. Engine runs were undertaken on 19th April and a test flight took place north of Barton on 26th April. It departed on the afternoon of 26th April, eventually becominf PT-EFI. This aircraft first flew on 14th December 1972 and was initially sold as N27JA, but the deal fell through. (f/t Bembridge)

JULY

23rd   Trislander G-BBWP departed carrying two sensor beams which were approximately 30tf long and 1ft square fro the tail and to the nose, as well as a ring aerial suspended from the fuselage and wing tips which all form part of its surveillance kit. It flew a test flight during this afternoon prior to its evening departure to Bembridge.

26th   Transvalair CL-44 HB-IEN was the first of a series of flights exporting portable bridge sections known as 'Bailey' bridges, which could be assembled at very short notice anywhere in the world, departed 27th. (Jeddah/Tripoli)
